CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: SOUNDASAURUS ROARS INTO EPCOR CENTRE THIS NOVEMBER – BE A PART OF THIS SAVAGELY SONIC HAPPENING!
EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts (ECPA) is a not for profit charitable organization that welcomes over 600,000 Calgarians annually into our facility. The mission of the EPCOR CENTRE is to ignite imagination, provide the public with cultural experiences that exceed expectations, assist artists in realizing their visions and to enable the artistic expression of all citizens.
We are seeking reliable, enthusiastic volunteers to fulfill the role of sound art installation invigorator during the Soundasaurus Festival of Multimedia Sound Arts. There will be two projects/locations within the Centre that will require invigorators.

About the Sound Art Installations
ECPA Location – Ledge Gallery; Artist: Michael J. Leeb “Dance Drum Variations”
“Dance Drum Variations” by artist Michael J. Leeb consists of 3 dimensional, sculptural works that include a diversity of drums, or “variations” of drum forms based on the Chippewa dance drum or “big drum.” They are experimental musical instruments that have been designed to create both traditional and non-traditional drums of various scale or dimensions, as a further experimentation of drum tonality, resonance, and sound. They are also intended to exhibit socio-cultural ideas associated with indigenous drums and culture; since drum making, dance, and song are an integral part of indigenous culture.
Gallery visitors are invited to experiment and enjoy for themselves these drums to create their own sounds or songs. Michael is a visual artist, writer and fine art photographer of métis of Anishna’abe (Chippewa/Cree) [Mille Lacs] and German heritage.
ECPA Location – Arts Learning Centre; Artist: Kyle Whitehead “Aleatronic Feedback Machine”
Kyle Whitehead’s installation aleatoric action embraces elements chance, in this case incorporated into a process of generative experience. The Aleatronic Feedback Machine creates the conditions for exactly this sort of aleatoric action to occur. Modular in its design this interactive installation is composed of several discreet but complementary electronic circuits; when coupled together these modular components form a generative and reactionary feedback system of sound and light that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Kyle Whitehead is a Calgary based multidisciplinary artist working primarily with small-format cinema and lo-fi electronics.
